As women, in 2015 we are LOSING! I say that with everything inside of me, being in the media has allowed me to look at things from the inside out. I am able to take time and evaluate how the media displays the roles and responsibilities of women and if you pay attention the only thing people think we are good for is sex. No matter how powerful, educated, well-rounded, or well-versed we are people want us to be sex symbols and to keep our mouth shut.
Well ladies, I am here to say it is time for us to get our power back. Women are the more powerful of the two sexes in my opinion, we hold all of the cards we just choose to let people deal them differently. I tell people daily we have the ability to give life there is nothing that we cannot do.
Society has placed a stigma on women that the only thing we can be praised for is looking good.
I find it very disheartening that all we see on mainstream media is women fighting and disrespecting one another or flaunting their bodies around while trying to make a point. When did we become so angry and all about sex?
Self-confidence is the first thing that I think ALL women need to work on. From experience I have found that some of the most beautiful women are the most insecure women we know. They just hide it very well.
I came up with a quote that I stand firmly by about confidence: "Confidence is knowing who you are and why." -Rachel Simone
Often time’s people only equate confidence with beauty and material things. When in fact some of the most beautiful and rich people are struggling with who they are. Being confident means accepting the good and bad and working towards changing what YOU see fit. You have to reach deep inside YOUR mind and soul to discover exactly who you are. We cover up our pain with whatever beauty we do have instead of dealing with ourselves and working hard to be better. Be confident in your mistakes and hardships and face them head on like the true solider you are. Be confident that you will change your current situation. Be confident that no matter your "flaws" someone will love you for you.
Yes! You will have bad days we all do, not every day will you feel you’re most confident but you deal with that day as it comes. It is up to us to dig deep inside and find confidence in who WE are not what the world tells us to be.
I know you hear the songs and see all the videos but not everyone is going to have a big booty, small waist, perfect skin, and long hair. Love what you have and if you feel the need to change anything about yourself make sure you are doing it for the right reasons.
No man or woman should be the determining factor in how confident you are as a woman. You have worked hard to be whoever who are and it is so important that you embrace that every single day.
We should never compare ourselves to anyone else, what is meant for you is meant for you. When you focus solely on being a better you your blessings will come.
Ladies, it is time for us to get our power back and this is the first step. Make sure you check back next week for Step 2 about Respect.
