You stress that Head High is a movement and not just a clothing line, what is the movement promoting?
Head High is an encouraging brand that promotes positivity by reminding people to keep their head high through the challenges they experience in their day to day lives.
What made you choose clothing to express yourself?
I chose clothing because it’s an everyday necessity and I’ve always wanted my own clothing line or brand.
Did you always see yourself as an entrepreneur if yes why? If no why?
Yes, because I’ve always been a hustler and I’ve always wanted to be in the owner position.
You have a close friendship with artist MAHD, how did you two begin working with one another?
We’re cousins and we both share common goals so it was inevitable for us to start working together.
What are the future plans for Head High?
My plans are to purchase my own building and make it into a Head High gift shop. And I also plan on going to children hospitals with my own mascot playing and having fun with the kids in the hospital.
I saw you had some TV exposure with Channel 7, is TV something we can expect from you in the near future?
Ha. The Channel 7 invite was just a tour and a workshop but yes stay tuned on seeing Head High Detroit on your TV screen.
You have some famous people such as Sway rocking your clothes, how does that make you feel?
It makes me feel very elated. I also met Sway in Texas, and him already knowing who I was…was a great feeling.
Why do you think Head High has grown so fast in such a short time?
My family, my church family, my friends and my faith in God.
What advice would you give to young entrepreneurs like yourself just starting out?
If you have an idea, go along with it! Especially if it can be life changing for someone else. Even if you have $1 in your pocket, plan it out!
If you could do one thing differently with your business what would it be?
I honestly wouldn’t do anything differently because everything happens for a reason.
You promote all things Detroit, what is it about this city that you love so much?
The people in this city going through adversities and still trying to provide for their families plus, the testimonies I receive from people every day is what makes me love Detroit.
Name one person you would like to see rocking your line in the future.
I would love to see Barack Obama in Head High.
