If someone is suicidal they believe that is their only option, As a two time survivor of suicide attempts I know the exact feeling and mental state you are in when you not only think about it, but actually attempt to do it.
I continue to see people talk about how they would never commit suicide or it is the easy way out, well I am literally happy that you don't suffer from depression deep enough to have these thoughts. But what you can't do is not fully understand the disease and its effect on someone's mind and body and tell them they want to lose their life because it is easier that way.
People, especially African-Americans do not understand or respect mental illnesses at all. They either ignore it or think they can pray it out of their loved ones.
Yes, prayer is needed I am sure if my family wasn't praying for me I would not be where I am at today.
But let me tell you about the personal change I had to make, somewhere I found something to live for and I had to change my entire mindset. Waking up every day not knowing if I was going to make it was/is hard.
People think being depressed is just sadness and it's so much more than that. Please take time to research and understand the disease before you decide that someone is "faking" or "crying wolf" with their life.
I am blessed to be able to deal with my depression properly now with no medication or any deep consequences from my bad days.
But please believe this could be you or someone you love and not everyone makes it out.
Hopefully this helps someone.
